Thank you, George Wright!

Long-time Amici supporter George Wright knows firsthand the difference summer camp makes for a child: “[Camp is important because kids] AREN’T in the city in the summer, which can be an environment with little structure and lots of temptation and pressure to make bad choices. Camp is addition by subtraction.” George developed his appreciation for the outdoors when he was sent to Kilcoo Camp at an early age (see proud young George wielding a paddle in the photo below). George describes Amici as a way to “give back and stay in touch with my camp friends.” From his many roles as a volunteer board and committee member, Canoe Heads for Kids participant to perennial MC at The Amici Mile at Woodbine Racetrack, George has personally been involved in sending hundreds of kids to camp through Amici, giving generously of “the three T’s: time, treasure and talent”. George continues to lead by example through his giving, directing his Amici support through his employer, CIBC Wood Gundy, and the CIBC Children’s Miracle Fund – a corporate donation program that encourages philanthropy and ensures George has maximum impact on causes that are important to him.
With Amici’s 50th Anniversary on the horizon in 2016, George is looking forward to celebrating and, of course, “a good party! Amici is filled with so many great people. I look forward to any opportunity to get them all together for good times.”Thank you for your generous support and leadership, George. And, for your continued commitment to helping deserving kids experience the magic of summer camp!
