Welcome to Amici, Jodie Adams!

Amici welcomed Jodie Adams to the team in November 2014 as Associate Program Manager.  Jodie is very excited to be working with our partner camps and Amici families to help children and youth have memorable camp experiences this summer.  Jodie has been a camp enthusiast since her first summer at Camp Kawartha at age 9.  She has since worked for many camps in Ontario and overseas including her most recent position as the full-time Camp Administrator for Camp Kandalore.   She holds a BA from Dalhousie University and a BEd from the University of Ottawa.  In her role as Associate Program Manager, Jodie will help place campers at Amici’s more than 30 fantastic partner camps.  Jodie has seen the benefits camp can offer firsthand and is so thrilled to be helping to provide this opportunity for so many deserving children and youth.  Jodie is really looking forward to this summer where she will be able to visit many of our partner camps and see the magic in action!  She can be reached at jodie@amicicharity.org.

Join us for #FLASHBACKFRIDAY on April 10 Hosted by The YPC

On April 10th, 2015 Amici’s Young Professional’s Council will be welcoming Amici supporters, camp alumni, family, and friends to join them at Neubacher Shor Contemporary for another amazing camp-inspired fundraising event. Last year, Amici’s YPC brought 150 people out to Steam Whistle Brewing and raised enough money to send an entire cabin of children to summer camp. Join them this year to help fund the camping experiences of 2 whole cabins for summer 2015! This exciting event is not to be missed, with live music, and open bar, camp themed snacks and activities, a stellar silent auction, and your best camp friends! The YPC looks forward to bringing down the house with you on April 10th! Check out Amici’s Facebook page for ticket details. If you are camp alumni of one of Amici’s partner camps and want to get involved in organizing an activity, email Christine at christine@amicicharity.org. See you there!

Kids Helping Kids – 100 Kids Who Care Aurora/Newmarket

100 Kids Who Care – Aurora/Newmarket is an exciting new initiative that inspires children to “pay it forward”, bringing together 100+ kids 4 times a year to donate a minimum of $10 each and then vote on a charitable organization to support, and their first chosen recipient is Amici Camping Charity! 100 Kids Who Care brings together it’s members to contribute to the their community and make a positive change locally. Many of the children who voted are campers themselves and know first-hand the amazing impact that summer camp can have on a child. Campers helping campers is a concept that Amici is excited to promote and we want to thank the 100 Kids Who Care – Aurora/Newmarket for making a huge difference to Amici campers!

Welcome New Partner Camps!

Amici is growing! This summer we are proud to be partnering with 2 more partner camps in Ontario: Mansfield Outdoor Centre and Project Canoe.

Mansfield Outdoor Centre

Located on 300 acres of beautiful land that includes forests, ponds, rivers, and fields, Mansfield Outdoor Centre has existed for many years as one of Ontario’s premier outdoor education centres and summer camps. Mansfield combines outdoor education with summer camp programing to create an incredibly unique experience that includes mountain biking, hiking, swimming, archery, crafts, leadership training and many more fun activities!

Project Canoe

Project Canoe provides summer tripping programs to youth aged 13 to 18, immersing them in Ontario’s beautiful wilderness where the teens learn canoeing and portaging skills while developing conflict resolution, team work, decision making, and risk management skills. Project Canoe inspires youth to create their own successes, and supports their personal growth. Amici is so excited to send youth to Project Canoe’s summer program for the first time in summer 2015!

Celebrating Our Partner Camps at the OCA Conference

Did you know that Amici’s partner camps not only provide safe, positive spaces where campers can immerse themselves in nature, learn new skills, and make new friends but they also provide a 1:1 MATCH for every dollar spent on camp fees? Our partners are our biggest supporters and the impact they inspire in our campers is HUGE. To say thank you, we recently held a reception for our 35 partner camps at the annual Ontario Camps Association (OCA) Conference. On January 29th, we set out to thank our partner camps by inviting them to a celebratory reception! We had a great turn out and were excited to get together and thank the staff, volunteers, partners, and friends of Amici’s partner camps. THANK YOU to our partner camps, for the changes that you inspire!
